UEFA introduced a new seeding system for this season's Champions League, based on each team's UEFA club coefficient.

While Real, as defending champions, and the seven winners of the top-ranked leagues sit in pot 1, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are in pot 2.

Based on the seedings, the Gunners, for example, could end up in a group with Real or Barca, German side Borussia Monchengladbach and French club AS Monaco.

Here are the pots for tonight's UCL draw:

Pot 1: Real Madrid (SPA, holders), Barcelona (SPA), Leicester City (ENG), Bayern Munich (GER), Juventus (ITA), Benfica (POR), Paris Saint-Germain (FRA), CSKA Moscow (RUS)

Pot 2: Atletico Madrid (SPA), Borussia Dortmund (GER), Arsenal (ENG), Manchester City (ENG), Sevilla (SPA), Porto (POR), Napoli (ITA), Bayer Leverkusen (GER)

Pot 3: Basel (SWI), Tottenham Hotspur (ENG), Dynamo Kiev (UKR), Lyon (FRA), PSV Eindhoven (NED), Sporting CP (POR), Club Brugge (BEL), Monchengladbach (GER)

Pot 4: Celtic (SCO), Monaco (FRA), Besiktas (TUR), Legia Warsaw (POL), Dinamo Zagreb (CRO), Ludogorets Razgrad (BUL), Copenhagen (DEN), Rostov (RUS)

UEFA explained the draw as follows:

1) No team can play a club from their own association (Arsenal cannot play City), with the exact draw procedure to be confirmed before the ceremony.

2) Following a decision by the UEFA Executive Committee, Ukrainian and Russian teams cannot be drawn against each other.

In addition to the UCL group stage draw, journalists will also vote for the 2015/16 UEFA Best Player in Europe awards for men and women, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann being the three shortlisted men up for the prize.
