Walters: I’m Not Jumping Up And Down Yet

Shuaib Walters Looking Forward To Silverware

By Soccer Laduma - Dec 10, 2016 12:57 PM

Cape Town City goalkeeper, Shuaib Walters, has said that he’s been emotional over the prospect of winning his first piece of silverware in his playing career today against SuperSport United in the Telkom Knockout final.

Cape Town City & South African Football’s Hottest Duo

Walters, who made his PSL debut 10 seasons ago, is now in line to pick up his first piece of silverware and has said that he’s happy to know that he’ll win a silver medal at worst, but that his emotions have not stopped him from preparing for today’s big match.

“Either way, I’m going to get a medal. I hope it will be gold,” he told Soccer Laduma. “It’s been emotional for the last couple of weeks, after beating Free State Stars (in the semi-finals). But I’m not jumping up and down yet, and I’m just looking ahead to today’s game.”

No Clause In City Star's Contract, Clear For TKO

Walters went on to say that the draw and win against Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits respectively in between the semi-finals and today’s game has served as a healthy distraction to the team and that placing too much focus on the game could work against the team’s performance on the day.

“We did get those good results against Wits and Chiefs (in the league), so that’s been a bit of a distraction, and this week we’ve been working quite hard. But we’ve been trying to keep it light, so that we can keep the mood a bit lighter as well. We’re don’t want to focus too much on the game and to over-concentrate, because it could be our downfall,” he concluded.

I have been consistently saying that Walters is currently the best Goalkeeper in the Country, of course not without massive objection from Amakhosi faithfools who put their finger on Khune.
