Themba Zwane says he understands why Teko Modise is playing in a central midfield position, ahead of him at Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Tembisa-born player revealed that he is willing to wait for his chance in his rightful position in Pitso Mosimane’s team.
Zwane played in a more central midfield role under Clive Barker at Mpumalanga Black Aces last season. He performed well under the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations-winning coach.
It has been a little bit of a struggle for the 25-year-old to get game-time consistently under Pitso Mosimane at Sundowns in the 2014/15 Absa Premiership season.
“Ja, I’m not getting the chance to play there for now. They play me on the side, but they say I mustn’t just play there. I must come inside and create chances. For me, I’ll wait for my chance to play in that position. I understand why Teko is there. He has been there for a long time and has great experience. He is a key player in our team now,” Zwane said in his interview with Soccer Laduma.
Zwane came on as a second half substitute for Kudakwashe Mahachi, when Sundowns lost 1-0 in their league game against Bidvest Wits on Tuesday night.
