Talented but controversial midfielder Masibusane Zongo is set to appear before Chippa United’s disciplinary committee, as he aims to receive his clearance from the club.
The Mthatha-born dribbling wizard has surfaced once again, after it emerged that Platinum Stars are handing him the opportunity to train with the team and get his fitness up to speed.
He has since decided to take time off from Dikwena training in order to negotiate his clearance from the Chilli Boys, where he previously played.
When the Siya crew caught up with him, he did not hide his feelings about the ‘misconception’ that he had gone Awol.
“When I saw that story on your website, I was disturbed because Platinum Stars know that I’m in Cape Town to meet with Chippa in an effort to get my clearance. The comments under that story were very hurtful,” he said.
However, Zongo will be hauled before the coals before getting his clearance. Peter Koutroulis, the club’s Chief Operations Officer, revealed, “The player has been called in to come for a disciplinary hearing for going Awol while he still had a contract with the club, as well as for the court case.
“I don’t know yet when the hearing will take place as I just heard today that he's in Cape Town.”
Earlier last month, a report surfaced in the local media indicating that a warrant of arrest had been issued for the star player after he failed to appear in court for an alleged rape charge.
