With Mamelodi Sundowns defender, Wayne Arendse, continuing to put in impressive performances, interest in the player is mounting.
The centre-back made the switch to the Brazilians from Santos in 2012 and initially struggled to make an impact.
Last season the player only managed two starts for Pitso Mosimane’s charges and it seemed as though he had been deemed surplus to requirements.
However, with Alje Schut leaving the club at the end of last season Downs opted to take the option on Arendse’s contract and renew it for an extra year.
That move looks to have payed dividends as the defender's impressive form has played an important part in the Brazilians' recent unbeaten run which now stretches seven games.
Arendse has started in all five of Sundowns' most recent games and his impressive showings has prompted the interest of a host of potential suitors to mount.
“There have been enquiries into the player’s availability. There are a few clubs in the PSL that want to bring him in with the experience and maturity he offers,” a source told the Siya crew.
“He is fully committed to Sundowns for now, but we will see what happens at the end of the season.”
What do you think of Arendse’s impressive performances? Should Sundowns ensure they tie the player down on a new contract?
