University of Pretoria (UP-Tuks) will face Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in the final of the inaugural Varsity Football challenge.
Both semi-finals were played on Monday, with UP-Tuks knocking North West University (NWU) out and NMMU eliminating Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).
A late own goal from NWU defender Lebogang Phetlhu was enough to separate the university sides, as UP-Tuks edged their opponents 1-0, in the first of the two semi-finals.
Lukhanyo Rasmeni scored the only goal of the game in NMMU’s 1-0 win over TUT, with Rasmeni bagging the Man of the Match award for his efforts.
UP-Tuks will host NMMU for the final on Monday, September 16, with the title of 2013 Varsity Football champions up for grabs.
