Baxter Testing The Water In SA

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter, has indicated that he is back in South Africa on private business and insisted he is not in the country to take over at a PSL club.

Earlier this month the Englishman revealed that he would be returning to Mzansi following his sacking from Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi.

His arrival coincides with a number of coaches at the country’s big teams, including the likes of Gordon Igesund, Eric Tinkler, Pitso Mosimane and Steve Komphela, starting to feel the pressure following relatively slow starts to the season.

The Englishman has, however, distanced himself from reports linking him with a return to PSL - indicating that the purpose of his visit is not to find job.

Nevertheless he did indicate that it is only natural that he will be assessing his options going forward, while at the same time noting that he is aware of the cut-throat nature of the football world and has no intentions of putting fellow coaches under pressure.

“I’m here to sort out some private business and tie up some loose ends, visit friends and, of course, a lot of those friends are in football.”

“I want to put my finger in the water and test the temperature, but that will not include trying to stitch up one of my coaching colleagues, because I know how difficult the job is,” Baxter revealed.
