Kaizer Chiefs coach, Steve Komphela, has indicated that strikers, Camaldine Abraw and Edward Manqele, are still working their way to full match fitness.
Komphela has started the duo in the Amakhosi’s last two games, a 1-1 draw with Ajax Cape Town in the league and an impressive 3-0 win over high flying Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knockout.
The Chiefs mentor is yet to settle on his preferred options up front and has used the duo as well as the likes of Siphelele Mthembu, David Zulu and Bernard Parker in the forward positions, while he is yet to give Bongani Ndulula a run.
“It’s true in the last two games we started with Edward Manqele and Camaldine Abraw, but that’s just one of the combinations we have,” Komphela told Soccer Laduma.
“We have top strikers at the team who all can make different combinations. But Manqele and Abraw did very well. We drew one and won the other game.
“Both players are not yet 100 percent game fit and we have to give them more game-time so that they can reach that fitness where we can say they are on top of their game.”
Do you think Abraw and Manqele can form a potent partnership for Chiefs? What has been your favourite striking partnership over the years?
