One of South African Football Association’s longest serving members, Eric Mtshatsha, passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Mtshatsha was the president for SAFA's Umgungundlovu Region in KwaZulu-Natal and passed away in Pietermaritzburg.
SAFA president, Dr. Danny Jordaan, believes Mtshatsha was one of the most experienced personnel in the game.
“It has not been a good start to the year for football in general," said Jordaan in a statement released by SAFA.
"While we are still mourning the passing away of legend John Shoes Moshoeu, we have now lost some of the most experienced brains of the game with this sad news of Mtshatsha."
Mtshatsha sat on the Board of Governors of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, while he was recently appointed honorary member of SAFA at the recent SAFA congress.
