Williams To Train With Bundesliga Giants
Ronwen Williams Is Off To Germany For A Trial
Soccer Laduma can exclusively reveal that SuperSport United goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, will undergo a week-long training session with German Bundesliga giants, Schalke F.C.
Williams had a sterling season with SuperSport United last season, and was in the process called-up to the Bafana Bafana squad when they faced Brazil earlier this year in a friendly international.
It was previously reported by the Siya crew that Williams was expected to train with an undisclosed club in Spain, and was subsequently linked with Belgium giants, Club Brugge and Racing Genk.
However, the latest news reaching the Siya crew is that the 22-year-old will have an opportunity to impress in Germany.
Rob Moore, the player’s representative confirmed the news saying, “It’s a great opportunity for the youngster. It’s the next step forward in his career.”
“He will be training with the club for a week. They are a big club in Germany and the Uefa Champions league. It will be a brilliant experience for Ronwen,” he added.
The Port Elizabeth-born shot-stopper will leave for Germany this weekend and a source close to Matsatsansta a Pitori confirmed the news by saying, “Yes, he is going to Schalke and we’re organizing all the paperwork as we speak, including his visa.”
