Talented Ajax Cape Town midfielder, Riyaad Norodien, may not have been able to help the team’s youngsters win the Ergenzingen Tournament, but he won a personal accolade.
Norodien, 20, who broke into the Urban Warriors’ first team earlier this year, putting in a number of impressive showings for Roger de Sa’s side, jetted out to Germany to team up with the club’s youth team once the Absa Premiership had finished.
Ajax lost in the semifinals of the tournament to Chivas Guadalajara via a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in normal time in which Norodien scored Ajax’s goal.
The tricky winger walked away with the Player of Tournament award at the Ergenzingen Tournament, and is believed to have left quite a mark on those watching him play over the course of the competition.
Norodien is expected to play a vital role for Ajax next season as they look to improve even further on the fifth place position they achieved this season, and also make a name for themselves on the continent as they enter the CAF Confederation Cup.
