Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach, Rainer Dinkelacker, reveals the best coach he’s worked with during his 14-year stay at the Amakhosi.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview in edition 966, the German-born man, highlighted that he saw many coaches come and go during his stay with the Naturena-based outfit, but had special mention for one in particular.
“I was with Chiefs for more than 10 years and most of them I enjoyed. I had nine different coaches and most of them were good people.
“Sometimes I had small problems, but if you are at a club for more than 10 years, something must be good,” the 67-year-old told Soccer Laduma.
It can be argued that, Dinkelacker is largely responsible for the quality goalkeepers that have consistently graduated from Chiefs’ ranks, which include the likes of: Brian Baloyi, Emile Baron, Rowen Fernandez, Arthur Bartman, Itumeleng Khune, Brilliant Khuzwayo and Reyaad Pieterse.
Dinkelacker reserved special praise for former Chiefs and current SuperSport United coach, Stuart Baxter, who he labelled as the ‘complete coach'.
“Every coach had his own style, his own character and his own ideas, but honestly Stuart Baxter was the complete coach.”
“I worked with a lot of coaches in Germany too, with top coaches who were licensed to coach in the Bundesliga, but Stuart had something special. How he spoke, how he worked tactically... he was a gentleman. He was maybe the best coach I ever worked with,” Dinkelacker concluded.
