Mamelodi Sundowns are yet to make a decision on whether Mzikayise Mashaba will be forming part of the Chloorkop-based club’s plans for the new 2017/18 campaign.
As reported in recent times, Mashaba’s deal with the Brazilians will be coming to an end on June 30, this year, with Sundowns having an added one-year option on the player’s contract and with days before his expiration date, indications are that Sundowns have not yet made a decision about whether or not the club will be exercising the option or not.
According to a source close to the player’s dealings, the club and Mashaba’s camp are expected to meet in the coming weeks to discuss the player’s immediate future at the club and it remains to be seen whether the 28-year-old will be donning the Ka Bo Yellow colours next season.
Mashaba has recently been linked with both Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates after a source confirmed to Soccer Laduma that the player’s camp previously held informal talks with the respective clubs.
The defender-cum-midfielder has made just 13 Absa Premiership appearances under the mentorship of Head Coach, Pitso Mosimane, in the 2016/17 Absa Premiership campaign.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Mashaba will be at the Chloorkop-based club in the new 2017/18 season as the Brazilians aim to defend their CAF Champions League trophy and challenge for domestic honours.
