Komphela Talks Chiefs Signings For The New Season
Steve Komphela was reticent to discuss his transfer targets for the new season, although did admit that there are some positions Kaizer Chiefs need to bolster.
The Amakhosi saw their season come to an end on Saturday as they managed to beat the Absa Premiership champions, Bidvest Wits, 1-0, however it has been a disappointing campaign as they once again finished it without silverware.
Chiefs did go one better than last season as they landed fourth spot on the final day, finishing one spot about their position in 2015/16, however Komphela has previously said that anything other than victory is not good enough.
Now, as the club begin their preparations for the new season, Komphela says he will not be talking about who they are targeting until an audit has been done at Naturena.
He told the media over the weekend, “We’ll have to do audits now, and there were areas where I felt we were a bit thin. There are things that I think, if we are rectify the mistakes of this season, need to be done. That can be done after our audit, but clearly there are quite a few things that need to be rectified.
“In relation to the market, coaches have to be very careful that you don’t start saying things before they are done lest there’s a different outcome. Then you’ve put everybody in the system under pressure. Yes, we need to rectify certain things, but we need to do that without sending a message saying we are going to buy this player and that player.
“We need to tighten up some screws so that we can come through.”
Chiefs have been linked with a number of incomings and outgoings in the coming months, however at this stage have not confirmed any movements.
