Bucs’ New Signing To Miss First Two Matches, Update On Injured Duo

Orlando Pirates are set to be without one of the team’s new signings for first two matches of the season.

The Buccaneers will get their 2018/19 Absa Premiership season with a match against Highlands Park at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Soweto giants have confirmed that coach Milutin Sredojevic and his technical team will be without Abel Mabaso for the match.

The versatile player will be serving the first of his two-match suspension from the red card he picked in the last match of last season while he was still with Chippa United.

As earlier reported, Bucs are also expected to be without the midfield duo of Thabo Qalinge and Thembinkosi Lorch, owing to respective injuries.

“Pirates have been dealt an early season injury blow with Thabo Qalinge and Thembinkosi Lorch expected to miss the opener due to injury. The influential duo picked up knocks in Pirates’ preseason matches in Cape Town against Cape Town City and Stellenbosch respectively,” stated Bucs on the club’s official website.

“In terms of bookings, both teams will be without at least a player each with Abel Mabasoand Mothobi Mvala serving their respective suspensions. Mabaso is serving a two-match suspension after being red carded in the final match of the season for Chippa United. The same applies to Mvala,” confirmed the club.
