Mamelodi Sundowns could go to the top of the Absa Premiership league standings this evening, should they claim all three points tonight over Baroka FC.
Baroka are currently holding the number one spot on the log, while Sundowns are currently in fifth place, lagging behind with just three points.
These two sides will lock horns this evening, December 05, where a win for Sundowns will take the Brazilians up to first place on the log, however, only if Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates fail to get a win in their respective league encounters tonight.
Sundowns still have an advantage at this point in time, as they could go level on points with the team in the number one spot, while still having three games in hand.
Although playing catch up in the league is never easy, should Masandawana salvage maximum points in all their upcoming encounters, they could be leaving a big gap for the likes of Baroka and Pirates to catch up.
Sundowns currently have a tough schedule ahead of them as they look to catch up in the Absa Premiership, with fixtures against Baroka, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United, Bloemfontein Celtic and Cape Town City all lined up before the Christmas break.
However, Head Coach Pitso Mosimane will look to take each encounter, as one at a time, ahead of a week’s break from domestic football, starting off with a clash against Baroka at the Lucas Moripe Stadium this evening.
