Maluleka’s Chiefs Absence Explained…

George Maluleka put in a Man of the Match performance as Kaizer Chiefs beat Free State Stars 2-0 last week, and was then left out of the weekend’s game with AmaZulu, but why?
The Glamour Boys have now won three games in a row for the first time in over a year, and Maluleka played a starring role in the second of those two games as he martialled the midfield on his return from injury.
There were questions asked by the Amakhosi faithful when the 28-year-old was missing from the matchday squad as Giovanni Solinas’ side went up against Usuthu, however the club did explain that it was another knock – and not a selection decision – that saw him left out.
Chiefs explained Maluleka’s absence on their official website, saying, “George Maluleka was handed the Man of Match award after a sterling performance against Free State Stars, but he’s not part of today’s match day squad as he’s struggling with a left thigh injury, although it’s nothing too serious.”
It is thought that the midfield man will be back in time to face Highlands Park when Chiefs travel to the Lions of the North next month, with the club seeking four consecutive league wins for the first time since February of last year.
