The Republic of Ireland and Oman both leapfrogged Shakes Mashaba’s side to take up the 66th and 67th positions, while Israel now find themselves in 68th.
Mashaba, who was recently appointed as the new head coach of South Africa’s national team, faces a tough job if he’s going to turn around the nation’s fortunes in the future.
Meanwhile, recently crowned world champions, Germany, top the rankings table, with runners-up, Argentina, in second place. Holland, Colombia and Belgium make up the rest of the top five.
In CAF, Algeria lead the way in 24th place, and alongside Ivory Coast (25), Nigeria (33), Ghana (36) and Egypt (38), are considered to be the top five best teams in Africa.
