Jayiya Nets Hat-Trick As City Thump Chippa To Move Top

Absa Premiership
Result: Cape Town City 4-1 Chippa United
Date: 03 April 2017
Venue: Athlone Stadium
Bhongolethu Jayiya scored the quickest hat-trick in PSL history, as Cape Town City thumped Chippa United 4-1 to move top of the Absa Premiership.
City broke the deadlock after just six minutes as Jayiya out-muscled Paseko Mako, before rifling the ball into the roof of the net from close range.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 11th minute as Lebogang Manyama did well to pick out Jayiya, who poked home from six-yards out for his second of the game.
Jayiya completed his hat-trick four minutes later when the striker bundled the ball home at the second attempt, following a fine cross from Ebrahim Seedat.
Dan Malesela was not happy with side's showing and opted for a change after 27 minutes, as Rhulani Manzini replaced Sello Jaftha.
Chippa started seeing more of the ball in the final 15 minutes of the first half, but they struggled to carve out clear-cut chances and were restricted to efforts from distance.
However, City added a fourth goal on the stroke of halftime as Aubrey Ngoma pulled the ball back for Thamsanqa Mkhize, who swept home from close range.
Eric Tinkler's charges continued from where they left off as the second half got underway, but the likes of Manyama and Lehlohonolo Majoro squandered a couple good chances in the opening 15 minutes.
Shu-Aib Walters had a relatively quiet evening, but he came to City's rescue in the 70th minute when he rushed off his line to deny Andile Mbenyane from close range.
Chippa eventually pulled a goal back in the 75th minute, as Rhulani Manzini was allowed to turn on edge of the box, before firing into the bottom corner, 4-1.
The Chilli Boys pushed for more goals in the closing stages with Mbenyane going closest by hitting the upright from 20-yards out.
Matters got worse for Chippa in the 90th minute when they were reduced to 10 men after Lerato Manzini was shown his second yellow card of the game.
Nonetheless, score remained 4-1 to the Mother City outfit at the full-time whistle, as they return to the summit of the table.
Here's how they lined up:
City: 1. Walters, 6. Seedat, 21. Mokeke, 27. Gumede, 3. Mkhize, 19. Putsche, 23. Matsi (Mashikinya 18'), 8. Manyama (Nodada 81'), 10. Jayiya, 11. Ngoma, 45. Majoro (Moseamedi 60').

Do you think that Coach Steve Komphela should give Siyanda Xulu a fair chance to compete for a place in his starting XI?
