Absa Premiership

Full Time: AmaZulu 1-1 Bloemfontein Celtic

Date: 10 November 2013

Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium

Second half goals from Lerato Manzini and Bongani Ndulula saw AmaZulu and Bloemfontein Celtic play to a 1-1 draw in their Absa Premiership match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The result means Ernst Middendorp is still without a win as the Celtic coach.

Despite playing away from home it was Celtic who started the stronger of the two sides as the Phunya Sele Sele controlled the midfield battle and dictated terms on the pitch in the opening stages.

Limbikani Mzava was the main threat in attack early on for Celtic with two shots on goal in the third and sixth minute respectively. His first attempt, a powerful long range shot, went narrowly wide of the goal while his second, a more accurate shot, was well-saved by Aubrey Mathibe.

Musa Nyatama was next to threaten the AmaZulu goal, but the Celtic player saw his thunderbolt of a shot sail over the crossbar.

AmaZulu had their first real chance on goal in the 25th minute as Ayanda Dalmini tried his luck form the edge of the box, but he saw his effort saved by the feet of Patrick Tignyemb.

Dalmini was in the thick of the action again five minutes later with another powerful shot form distance, but again Tignyemb was on hand to thwart him.

Celtic ended the half the stronger of the two sides and only the acrobatics of Mathibe kept the scores level as he produced a fingertip save to deny Nyatama a minute before the break.

The second 45 saw Celtic continue to do all the pressing and they were finally rewarded with a goal in the 67th minute as Lerato Manzini found the back of the net after being put through on goal by Roderick Mutuma, 1-0.

AmaZulu tried to fight their way back into the game and came close to levelling matters in the 72nd minute, but Nkosinathi Mthiyane saw his shot go inches wide of the right-hand post.

Eight minutes later, however, and AmaZulu did find the equaliser after Bongani Ndulula made the most of a goalmouth scramble, firing the ball home with a clinical volley to level matters, 1-1.

Neither side could find the winner in the final ten minutes as the teams shared the spoils on the day.
