Head Coach Pitso Mosimane says that his side should be proud of their achievements, despite the fact that they were unable to retain the Absa Premiership title this season.
At the end of the 2016/17 campaign, Mamelodi Sundowns fell just three points short of Bidvest Wits who were crowned 2016/17 Absa Premiership champions for the first time in the club’s history.
Despite not winning any domestic silverware this season, the Brazilians claimed both the CAF Champions League title and the CAF Super Cup and are on their way to defend their status as the champions of Africa.
Speaking to Sundowns’ official website, Mosimane has accepted that his side is unable to win every trophy but is certain that Masandawana did not have a bad season.
“Above all, we must be proud of our achievements. We won the Champions League and Super Cup and gained valuable experience playing in the FIFA Club World Cup. We can’t win everything and our supporters have accepted this. It can’t be a bad season and they accompanied the team to various countries like Zambia, Zimbabwe and Japan. Life has been good for them,” he said.
The head coach then went on to say that his side will continue to challenge for the league next season and regain their title.
“We will fetch the trophy. We know the address. It’s just off the highway,” he added.
