Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he is not interested in ‘beautiful football’ at this point in the season and is prepared to play ugly to win.
Mosimane made these comments after a brace from Leonardo Castro a goal from Keagan Dolly saw his side beat Polokwane City 3-1 in an Absa Premiership match on Wednesday evening.
The result saw the Brazilians maintain their four point lead at the top of the league table, over Bidvest Wits who also picked up three points on Wednesday following a 1-0 win over Jomo Cosmos.
“It was a very difficult game against Polokwane, a very physical game, but at this point in time you just have to win and continue,” said Mosimane.
“Forget about beautiful football. Keagan scored a beautiful goal for us, that was it.
“It was not easy, Polokwane were strong and physical.”
Mosimane went on to add that he was unhappy with the goal they conceded on the night and it is something they need to improve on if they are to lift silverware this season.
“I’m unhappy about the goal we conceded,” added the Brazilians’ coach.
“It’s nearly the same goal that we conceded against AS Vita Club in the Champions League.
“It is our jobs as the coaches to fix it.
“At this point in time it is not about fatigue, it is in the mind. Yes, you feel it in the body but you have to play.
“There is no fatigue, there is no travelling. If we want to be champions we have to grind it out and not listen to what others are saying.”
