SuperSport United have completed the signing of current Bafana Bafana striker, Phumelele Bhengu, following his impressive spell in the National First Division.
The Siya crew has been informed that Bhengu, 25, has landed himself a three-year contract with Matsatsantsa, signing a pre-contract with the club ahead of the 2015/16 Absa Premiership season when his contract with Thanda Royal Zulu comes to an end.
Bhengu, formerly of Moroka Swallows, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Chippa United, has been in scintillating form in South Africa’s second tier this season, grabbing the golden boot with a whopping 22 goals.
Now, with the forward set to join the likes of Jeremy Brockie, Kingston Nkhatha, Bradley Grobler and Co. as the spearhead of SuperSport’s attack, Gordon Igesund will be hoping that he can continue his form in the top flight.
‘Ace’ got 22 goals in 28 starts for TRZ in 2014/15, however was unable to help them achieve promotion as they ended up finishing one point away from the playoff places.
Having agreed to join Igesund’s side, Bhengu will now look to focus on Bafana Bafana as he seeks to help them succeed in this year’s COSAFA Cup.
