Faty Leaves Wits, Hasn’t Retired
Due to problems with his heart, Bidvest Wits and midfielder, Papy Faty, have decided to part ways, although he won’t be retiring just yet.
The 26-year-old has collapsed on the field twice in the last nine months, once in a friendly and once in the Absa Premiership, and it was thought that issues with his heart would force him into hanging up his boots.
Now, however, as reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Faty has indeed left Wits, and is now on the lookout for a new club as he looks to try and get his career back on track.
After leaving the Clever Boys, Faty returned home to represent the Burundian national team, remaining adamant that he will not be retiring despite his ongoing health issues.
It remains to be seen whether anyone will be willing to take a chance on Faty at this stage following the collapses, although he has not given up hope on continuing his career elsewhere.
