Karuru Signs For Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs are expected to unveil Zimbabwe international, Ovidy Karuru, on Wednesday, July 23, with news coming out of Zimbabwe indicating that the 25-year-old has penned a deal with the Soweto giants.
In tomorrow's edition of Soccer Laduma, issue 881, the Siya crew reveals that Amakhosi are looking to table an offer for the winger and that he is expected to turn out for coach Stuart Baxter in the new season.
With edition 881 having already been submitted for print, the crew has been informed from sources in Zimbabwe that the deal has been concluded.
He joins Chiefs as a free agent after opting not to renew his contract with Belgian side, OH Leuven, who were relegated from the Jupiler League at the end of last season.
“Yes, it is true he will be unveiled tomorrow (Wednesday) together with others. He is now a Chiefs player. He signed a three-year deal,” said the source.
Another source close to his handlers said, “They are unveiling him tomorrow.”
Karuru has before had a French League 1 stint with US Boulogne. He started in last Sunday’s 4-2 friendly match win over Chippa United in Port Elizabeth, and is expected to take part in the Carling Black Label Cup against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
