Orlando Pirates midfielder, Oupa ‘Ace’ Manyisa, has had to endure some moments that have tested his character but has persevered and is now a firm favourite with the fans, racking up the most votes for any outfield player in the CBL Cup.

Ace has not always had it easy at the Buccaneers, in 2008 he had to endure the boo-brigade when Coach Ruud Krol threw him in the deep end and played him at full back for three games.
Since then the 26-year-old has endeared himself to the Pirates faithful through years of impressive performances. With 113396 votes for this weekend’s CBL Cup clash with Kaizer Chiefs he is the most voted for outfield player on both teams.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma about the experience of being booed, Manyisa said, “It really broke my heart. Jazzy Queen (Harold Legodi) just told me, “Hold on. Don’t worry because one day you’ll be something special.” It was Harold who helped me. He told me I was just growing up now and I have to be a man.”
“Yho, I've come a long way. I mean in 2009/10 I made just two substitute appearances. I just had to keep on working and not listen to people too much. I had to believe I could make it as a footballer,” Ace said.

Pirates take on Chiefs in the fifth edition of the CBL Cup on Saturday, August 1, at the FNB Stadium and will be looking to continue their dominance in the competition and register their fourth win.
