Eric Tinkler’s future at Orlando Pirates seems to be well and truly up in the air at present, though the club are only set to make a decision in January.
Pirates currently find themselves enduring their worst ever start to a PSL season and are in 13th place after 10 games - and if things don’t improve they could be set for their lowest league finish since the PSL was formed.
Despite an impressive run in the CAF Confederation Cup this year, defeat in the final to Etoile du Sahel left many questions regarding Tinkler’s future, and it is thought that there is a strong possibility that he will be on his way out in 2016.
Now, as reported in today’s issue of Soccer Laduma, it is strongly believed that Pirates will make a decision on Tinkler’s future, but will only do it after their offices re-open on 4 January.
A source told the Siya crew, “They want to replace him, but it will only be in the new year. The (Pirates) office closed on Sunday and will only open on January 4, so maybe then the management will have decided who will take over from Eric.”
Pirates have never finished outside of the Absa Premiership’s top eight since the PSL was formed, and the club will be eager to make changes to make sure that they keep that record intact by the end of the season.
