It sounds like Felipe Ovono might have jeopardised his chances of playing in upcoming games for Orlando Pirates after the blunders he has made in goal so far this season.
The Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper, who started the 2016/17 season as the number one for Pirates, has had a disappointing start to the campaign due to mistakes that resulted in goals being conceded in their games against Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits respectively.
Sources close to Pirates have confirmed that Ovono has been dropped for tomorrow’s game for Pirates against Ajax Cape Town.
“He’s not in the 18-man match day squad for tomorrow’s game for Pirates against Ajax Cape Town,” said the source.
As reported by the Siya crew, Ovono could find himself in trouble again regarding his future with Pirates, as a result of his disappointing start to the season.
The shot-stopper was on Pirates’ transfer list during the transfer window, but was later removed before the start of the season. It is believed that the player’s future at the club could be set for discussions again.
With Siyabonga Mpontshane having played for Pirates’ Multichoice Diski Challenge side on the weekend, sources have indicated that the technical team is likely to choose between Jackson Mabokgwane and Brighton Mhlongo to start against Ajax at Cape Town.
