Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana defender, Themba Mnguni, is recovering at home, following his horrific motor vehicle accident last Sunday that saw his daughter killed.
Mnguni’s daughter, Nokukhanya ‘Khanya’ Mnguni (8), died in the car crash while travelling with her father and brother, Tshepi (13), last weekend. The former football star was severely injured during the accident, while his son escaped with minor injuries.
Themba’s brother Thokozani Mnguni, who also played for Sundowns during his professional football career, confirmed to the Siya crew that the 39-year-old is on the road to recovery, despite the loss of his precious daughter.
“Themba is trying to be strong after he sustained serious head injuries. He was with his children, a boy and a girl at the time of the accident. The boy is fine, he sustained minor injuries. He was at the back of the car at the time of the accident.
“The girl was with Themba in the front and she died on the scene. The funeral will be on Saturday (July 20) at Theresa Park in Pretoria North. That’s where Themba’s house is. The service will start at 07:00. We will proceed to the cemetery at 10: 00,” said Mnguni.
