Bafana Bafana international, May Mahlangu, is believed to have turned down a bumper contract at Kaizer Chiefs worth around R3.6m per year.
The 27-year-old will be a free agent as of tomorrow after making the decision to move on from Sint-Truidense VV in Belgium, and there has been plenty of talk about where he may end up.
It is known that Chiefs, as well as other clubs in South Africa, were eager to bring the midfield man back to his homeland, though his latest decision seems to have made it clear that he wants to remain in Europe.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Mahlangu is believed to have turned down an offer from the Amakhosi worth about R3.6m a year, citing his hopes of landing a new club in Europe as his reasons for saying no.
It remains to be seen exactly where the tireless central midfielder will be playing his football in 2016/17, though it does now seem highly unlikely that he will be returning to South Africa just yet.
