Mamelodi Sundowns have identified Mbombela United’s Sinethemba Jantjie as one of their transfer targets for next season.
The winger, who has been instrumental in Mbombela’s NFD campaign, could be heading to Chloorkop for a trial where he would be assessed by Coach Pitso Mosimane and his technical team.
According to a source close to Sundowns, the club is believed to be keen on offering the player a trial during their pre-season ahead of the 2016/17 Absa Premiership campaign. Jantjie’s agent, Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi, would neither confirm nor deny Downs’ interest in the winger, although Mulovhedzi did confirm that the 27-year-old would soon be a free agent, as his contract with Mbombela comes to an end in June.
“Sinethemba Jantjie’s contract with Mbombela United will be up soon. He started the season well and was scoring goals for the team, but for some reason the player hasn’t been getting game-time in recent matches.
“Since February he hasn’t been getting enough game time. He was scoring and creating goals for his teammates earlier in the season. I’m not happy with the fact that the player hasn’t been getting game time lately,” his agent said.
“I suspect that it’s being done deliberately to frustrate him, as his contract with them is coming to an end,” concluded Mulovhedzi.
