Arguably the league's most promising young talent, Percy Tau is fast becoming one of the hottest properties in the PSL, but the decision about the next step in his professional football career lies in the hands of his club, Mamelodi Sundowns.
It was previously reported by Soccer Laduma that the 22-year-old is in the final year of his contract with Masandawana, and at the time, the Siya crew contacted the player's representative, Mmatsatsi Sefalafala, for an update on the player's contract situation.
"At the moment it is going to be hard for me to talk on the phone, because I am going into a meeting, so I won't be able to speak to you right now. Such things I am not keen to disclose, because it is confidential. So it will be very difficult for me to give you an answer," Sefalafala said back then.
It has since been revealed to the Siya crew that Sundowns have an option in Tau's contract, and if the club decides to exercise the option, the player's future will be tied down to the Brazilians beyond the 2016/17 campaign.
At this point in time, Tau will be able to leave Masandawana on a free at the end of his current contract. However, if Sundowns exercise the option, Tau will remain at the Chloorkop-based club, and interested suitors will have to table an impressive offer for his services.
