Downs Take Dolly To The DRC
Mamelodi Sundowns are taking Keagan Dolly to the PSL’s Dispute Resolutions Chamber after serving him legal papers, with the case being held next week.
As reported by the Siya crew in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, the Bafana Bafana midfielder will appear at the DRC with Sundowns on 14 November, with Masandawana citing a ‘mistake’ in his contract with regards to the European buyout clause.
The crew previously reported that Greek giants, Olympiacos, had tabled a bid for the 23-year-old that matched his buyout clause – thought to be around €800,000 – but that no move materialised as the transfer window closed without a proper response from Chloorkop.
It is thought that ‘Downs’ reason for taking Dolly - who is currently away with the national team - to the DRC is because they feel his buyout clause is meant to be higher than what is on the contract, saying that they made a mistake in making it the current figure, despite his current contract being in play for over 15 months.
A source told the crew, “It’s unbelievable that Sundowns are taking Keagan to the DRC. Keagan and the club have had a contract in place for over 15 months, a contract which both parties have adhered to since it came into being.
“That contract included a European buyout, and it’s only when an actual European offer that matched that buyout was presented did Sundowns now try to change the goalposts by citing a ‘mistake’ in the contract that everybody has been using for over a year.
“Does this mean any club can just say it was a ‘mistake’ whenever they want? If so, all contracts might as well be ripped up.”
