Sundowns Confirm New Kekana Deal

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that Hlompho Kekana has officially put pen to paper on a new contract with the club after months of ongoing negotiations.

The player’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of June 2017 and as previously reported by Soccer Laduma, the player’s camp and Sundowns were tied in ongoing negotiations for several months.

Now, it has since been confirmed that the 31-year-old has signed a new contract with the CAF Champions League winners, however, the terms of his new deal are still unknown.

“Yes, Pitso Mosimane did confirm that he (Hlompho Kekana) has signed a new contract,” Sundowns’ Media Coordinator, Thulani Thuswa confirmed to the Siya crew at the PSL headquarters on Monday morning.

Despite the ongoing negotiations for a new deal, indications are that Sundowns have acted quickly to ensure that they do not risk losing their team’s captain to one of their Premier Soccer League rivals at the end of the campaign.

It was previously revealed on Soccer Laduma that interest in the midfielder’s services has been brewing over the past few months, with Kekana recently being linked with a move to China and PSL outfits such as Bidvest Wits, Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United all keeping a close eye on the player’s situation at the Chloorkop-based club.

Now, indications are that the Bafana Bafana international has committed his long-term future to the CAF Champions League winners, however, the terms and length of his contract is yet to be confirmed by the club.
