Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune’s ankle injury is not serious, as confirmed by the player yesterday, and he will return to training in two days.
The Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper was named as one of the overage players in Owen Da Gama’s squad that will travel to the Olympic Games in Rio this August, but Khune’s fitness was put in doubt following an ankle injury sustained in a training match. However, a source told the Siya crew that the 29-year-old has been assessed and that the injury is nothing to be concerned about.
“Yes, it was a knock on his ankle,” the source explained. “But the team doctor has checked him and it’s nothing serious.”
The source also said that Khune will be back in full training after a brief two-day recovery period.
“He should be fine in two days and he can resume full training with the rest of the team,” the source concluded.
