News reaching the Siya crew is that Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs are currently locked in negotiations with a view of brokering a deal before the closure of the transfer window on Friday.
With Celtic recently losing key members of their striking department, in Gabadinho Mhango and Gregory Maasdorp, they are keen on bolstering their attacking department.
Phunya Sele Sele reportedly showed interest in two PSL strikers, namely Bidvest Wits’ Henrico Botes and Polokwane City’s Rendani Ndou. However, with the two players unlikely to make the move, Celtic have since switched their attention to Amakhosi striker, Siphelele Mthembu.
Shaka Zulu, as he is affectionately known in the football fraternity, has mainly featured for Chiefs as a substitute in the nine league appearances he’s made this season, though Celtic believe that he can become a regular first-team player for the club.
The Siya crew broke the news last week that the Glamour Boys are tracking Siwelele’s Thapelo Morena. With Celtic’s interest in Mthembu, the Soweto giants are now hoping to negotiate a swap-deal.
Mamelodi Sundowns have also been tracking the U23 South African international, though it now seems as if Chiefs could snatch the player. With the transfer window closing tomorrow, the two clubs will have to reach an agreement before the closure at 5pm.
Would a swap deal involving Mthembu and Morena be beneficial to both teams? Is Morena the man Chiefs need?
