Chippa United will be without George Akpabio from the 2015/16 season, after the striker signed a contract with Yeni Malatyaspor in Turkey.
Malatyaspor are a newly promoted Turkish First League club.
Chippa have allowed Akpabio to join Malatyaspor for him to realise his dream of playing overseas.
Akpabio’s agent, Mohammed Lawal, confirmed to the Siya crew that the Nigerian player has completed his move to the Turkish outfit.
“Yes he has signed. It’s a step towards the right direction for the player. He has spent about three years playing in South Africa. He came here in 2012. He was with Ajax Cape Town. He was loaned to Vasco da Gama. He went to Chippa United for the other season.
“Last season he was with Chippa. The objective has always been for him to play in Europe. The PSL is a stepping stone for players to go to Europe. We believe that it is a good opportunity for him to showcase his talent overseas.
“Chippa (Mpengesi) has been very kind and very good. He is always open to allowing his players to take the next step in their careers. He doesn’t stand on their way,” said Lawal.
Akpabio has penned a two-year deal with Yeni Malatyaspor.
The Chilli Boys are in talks with Burkina Faso striker, Aristide Bance, with a view to fill the void left by Akpabio in the team.
