Gavin Hunt: We Shouldn’t Be Winning The League

By Soccer Laduma - Apr 20, 2017 04:07 PM

Bidvest Wits head coach, Gavin Hunt, thinks that his side is under no pressure to win the league, as the likes of Kaizer Chiefs or Mamelodi Sundowns should be the ones to come out victorious.

Wits were able to snatch just a point away from their title-rivals, Cape Town City, at the Cape Town Stadium last night, however, remaining second placed with just one point separating the Students from Head Coach Eric Tinkler’s side at the helm.

The Clever Boys, however, have two games in hand, but should the team collect maximum points in those encounters and be on par with the 24-matches played in the Absa Premiership thus far, Wits could find themselves comfortably placed at the number one spot on the log with 51 points.

Despite Wits’ two games in hand advantage, Head Coach, Gavin Hunt, believes that his side is under no pressure to win the league, but is disappointed with coming away with just a point against City last night.

“I think we are under no pressure because we shouldn’t be winning the league, I think, Sundowns should win the league, and Chiefs should win the league, those things. I don’t think we are under any pressure, I just feel that we have got ourselves in such a good position that we don’t want to play and have regrets, we have regrets tonight (last night) and that is disappointing,” Hunt told the media after last night’s 1-1 draw against City.

Wits might not be under pressure to win the league because they are not a championship winning team , but Gavin Hunt is under huge pressure to win it for Wits as i think it is one of his employment condition . Gavin Hunt is a championship winning coach and must win the league for Wits to emulate what he did at SSU. Gavin Hunt is under immense pressure at Wits , you look at the the signings he made at Wits then you will understand that Gavin Hunt wants the league for Wits at all costs . Gavin is not the type of coach who sign a lot of players to get results , but this time he turned Wits into another Sundowns.

If you believe whjat Gavin Hunt is saying the you will be bigger fool.. He always says Wits are not under pressure to win the league to deflate pressure to other teams and be taken lightly as a contender

Now i'm startingbto doubt Hunt's success at SSU. Maybe the players he had wanted ot more than him there. Hence those achievemnts. Now his coming up with this sorry of an excuse. Wits has the best squad than Chiefs n only parallel to Sundowns interms of quality. The rest of the PSL teams are below onterms of qualith compared to those two clubs. Gavin nust stop playong as if he doesn't want tnis league,he might end up not getting it come the final day.

His just playing mind games coz he should be up on top sitting comfortable coz there's no pressure coaching teams like wits more than the top 3.
