Bidvest Wits’ head coach Gavin Hunt has explained that he still misses Sibusiso Vilakazi at the club, but thinks that the player’s move to Mamelodi Sundowns was a good decision for all parties.
In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Hunt revealed that his Wits side has adjusted well enough, and the team has enough depth in the squad to fulfil the role of the departed Vilakazi.
“‘Vila’ is a good, honest professional, but (his move) was good for all parties – for him personally, for the club and for Sundowns. And it happens in football. I was very sad to see him go… I still miss the boy… but we must move on,” Hunt told the Siya crew.
“The team has evolved and it was at the right age for him personally. We have numerous players in that position. A guy like Daine – we need to re-invent him and re-energise him. He is the one and Myeni is another one.
“If you look at our squad, we have enough players that fit into that role. Hellings Mhango is also coming. He hasn’t really played in that role, but he can,” the 52-year-old shared.
