Chippa United could the club to save Lerato Chabangu from his unfortunate situation of not having a club.
Chabangu, 30, has been club-less since parting ways with Moroka Swallows at the end of the 2014/15 season.
The midfielder had an unsuccessful trial with Bidvest Wits during the pre-season.
With some of the experienced players like Katlego Mphela, Khethokwakhe Masuku and Dominic Isaacs having moved a step down in their careers to the NFD, Chabangu is confident that he can still secure a move to a club in the topflight of South African football.
Luthando ‘Trompies’ Zibeko, who is the Communications and Marketing Manager at Chippa, confirmed the arrival of Chabangu at the Port Elizabeth outfit.
“Yes, Lerato is currently with us and training. He is currently being assessed by the club. Lerato Chabangu is being assessed by the club,” Zibeko told the Siya crew.
Following their humiliating 3-0 loss against Free State Stars in their previous game, Chippa are preparing for the game against Platinum Stars on Tuesday next week.
“Immediately after the game against Free State Stars we focused on the next game. We have the squad and we’ve got the ambition to bounce back to winning ways,” explained Zibeko.
