Chippa United have confirmed signing Menzi Masuku from Orlando Pirates on a three-year deal.
The Siya crew broke the news about Masuku signing with Chippa last month, with the club’s chairman Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi confirming the deal.
It was later reported by the Siya crew that the player’s deal involved Nkosinathi Mthiyane moving from Chippa to Pirates.
However, there has been confusion regarding the deal, with Masuku seemingly reluctant to make the switch from Gauteng to the Eastern Cape at one point.
Chippa were even considering pulling out of the deal, as the transaction took longer than expected. Mpengesi has now thanked Pirates for Masuku’s move to his club.
“We are happy to have concluded Menzi’s deal. We’d like to thank Orlando Pirates for their co-operation and assistance, as well as the good working relationship we have with them. We hope that Masuku will share his Olympic experience with the rest of the team and help us achieve our goals. With a coach like Dan Malesela, I believe he will become one of the best players this season,” said Mpengesi.
