Brent Carelse has been appointed Cape Town City’s U19 coach on a temporary basis as the club prepares for its inaugural Metropolitan Premier Cup journey.
In Soccer Laduma issue 1014, it was reported that City were looking to add the 35-year-old former Ajax Cape Town stalwart to their technical staff.
“It’s not yet a permanent position but might become one,” said a source. “Brent has a good relationship with City chairman, John Comitis, and it’s something that they’ve been speaking about. A lot of our teenagers have already played for the club’s MDC team so it’s going to be interesting to see how the boys do.”
This tournament, which is better known as the Bayhill Cup, is the biggest of its kind in SA and will be played over the Easter weekend.
“I think it’s good for Brent to start coaching at U19 level then build up from there,” the source concluded.
