Wits Yet To Renew Josephs’ Contract
Bidvest Wits are in no rush to renew the contract of veteran goalkeeper, Moeneeb Josephs, as they still have plenty of time to exercise their option on him.
The 36-year-old will see his current deal with the Clever Boys expire at the end of the current season, however, he is still part of Gavin Hunt’s plans having played the full 90 minutes – keeping a clean sheet – against Chippa United this week.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, it is thought that Wits have until the end of May to exercise their one-year option on the shot-stopper, by which time he will have just celebrated his 37th birthday.
The Siya crew is led to believe that Wits are interested in making sure the former Orlando Pirates man stays in Braamfontein beyond the end of the 2016/17 campaign, however, are not rushing to tie him down because of the time remaining before the option’s deadline.
Josephs has played two league games for Wits so far this season, but did help them win the MTN8 earlier in the campaign and has also featured in the CAF Champions League.
