Kaizer Chiefs striker, Bernard Parker, has indicated that his favourite Chiefs team over the years was that of the 2004/05 season.
Parker grew up supporting the Amakhosi and has indicated that the team he has the fondest memories of was the one which included the likes of Collins Mbesuma, David Radebe and Siyabonga Nkosi.
'Ntofontofo' scored a sensational 35 goals for Chiefs in that memorable season and the trio helped guide the Glamour Boys to the league title, narrowly beating Orlando Pirates by two points.
“The season I remember very well was when Collins Mbesuma was partnering David Radebe and Siyabonga Nkosi was playing behind them,” Parker told Soccer Laduma.
“Mbesuma was lethal. Once you gave him time to turn, you could expect the ball in the back of the net.
“It was one of Chiefs’ best seasons. We want to go back to those times and bring glory to the team.”
The Amakhosi will be looking to keep Mbesuma quiet once again, when they welcome Mpumalanga Black Aces to the FNB Stadium in an Absa Premiership encounter this evening.
Proceedings are scheduled to get underway at 19h30.
Which was your favourite Chiefs team and why? Do you think anyone will break Mbesuma’s record of 35 goals in a season?
