Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Banks Setlhodi, thinks that Brilliant Khuzwayo’s presence between the poles doesn’t come close to that of Itumeleng Khune.
Khuzwayo has had to step in to the starting line-up for the last two of the Amakhosi’s fixtures against Orlando Pirates and Maritzburg United as Khune has been out with a knee injury.
Taking over the gloves from Khune is no easy task, but Khuzwayo has been more than competent, even picking up the Man of The Match award against Pirates in the Telkom Knockout semi-final.
Setlhodi has indicated that he thinks Khuzwayo is an able replacement but doesn’t have the presence that Khune has.
“You know this boy has done really well. I can’t really put him far behind Khune, although his presence and experience doesn’t even come close to that of Khune,” the legendary goalkeeper told Soccer Laduma.
“Having said that, whenever he has been called upon he’s delivered exactly the same performance expected from Khune. He’s a quality goalkeeper.
“Who can forget his last two Soweto Derby performances, where he was thrown into the deep end after having not played for a while before those games? He went out there and came back with two Man of the Match performances!”
