Cameroon scored an early goal two minutes into the match as Amajita were caught off guard, with the West African country snatching an early goal through Marius Noubissi after a blunder by the Amajita defence.

The goal seemed to have harmed the confidence of the home side as Cameroon took control of the game.

Amajita recovered from their poor start and got back into the game, and made several attempts to get back to the game.

An individual piece of brilliance by Fagrie Lakay in the 37th minute brought Amajita back into the game with a beautiful solo effort.

The South African side should have gone ahead a minute later with forward, Siyanda  Ngubo, blowing a good goal scoring chance.

Cameroon also had another chance to go into the lead but their effort by Bassama Ntsole, hit the woodwork which came to the rescue of Amajita.

From here. Amajita went into the lead as Lakay grabbed his second of the match to register a brace from a mix-up in the penalty box to send the home team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The match went the break with Amajita in the lead through a Lakay’s brace.

The second-half saw Shakes Mashaba making changes bringing Dikgang Ngcobo and  Sphelele Luthuli as he searched for more goals to secure a comfortable win over Cameroon.

Amajita held on to secure a famous victory that qualifies them to next year's competition, that will also feature powerhouses such as Senegal, Ivory Coast, Zambia and Nigeria.

This is how they started:

Amajita XI: Jethren Barr, Madisha Motjeka, Bongane Mathabela, Ayabulela Magqwaka, Siyanda Ngubo, Pule Maraisane, Aubrey Maphosa, Denwin Farmer, Fagrie Lakay, Tshepo Chaine, Morne Nel.
