Absa Premiership Report: Polokwane City v Kaizer Chiefs 13 May 2017
Result: Polokwane City 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs
Date: 13 May 2017
Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium
Kaizer Chiefs stretched their winless run in the Absa Premiership to four games, after suffering a 1-0 loss to Polokwane City.
Steve Komphela's charges threatened early in the counter and were presented with a chance through Joseph Molangoane, who fired well wide after beating the offside trap.
Polokwane carved out a chance of their own after 15 minutes but Rodney Ramagalela placed his effort wide of Itumeleng Khune's upright.
It was proving to be an open encounter as the half went on, but both sides were guilty of giving away possession on numerous occasions.
Chiefs shot-stopper Khune was eventually called into action after 40 minutes, as he did well to tip Salulani Phiri's effort over the crossbar.
That proved to be the final bit of goal-mouth action in the first half, as the sides went into the break all square.
After a quiet start to the half, Chiefs had a chance to break the deadlock in the 57th minute when Molangoane played in Hendrick Ekstein, who was denied by the on-rushing George Chigova.
Steve Komphela opted for a change four minutes later as Bernard Parker made way for Gustavo Paez as they pushed for an opening goal.
Polokwane made a change of their own in the 69th minute as Walter Musona made way for Rendani Ndou.
Five minutes later, Rise and Shine took the lead as George Maluleka's attempted clearance fell into the path of Thapelo Tshilo, who side-footed home from six-yards out.
With 10 minutes remaining, Komphela introduced William Twala for Molangoane as Chiefs pushed for an equalising goal.
However, Rise and Shine did well to deny Chiefs any clear-cut chances in the closing stages and held on for the victory.
Here's how they lined up:
