Yeye Brace Hands Chiefs Win

Absa Premiership

Score: Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 University of Pretoria

Date: 13 September 2014

Venue: FNB Stadium

A brace from Reneilwe Letsholonyane helped Kaizer Chiefs secure a 2-1 win over the University of Pretoria in a Absa Premiership encounter at the FNB Stadium.

After very slow start to the half, which saw a Chiefs register a few speculative efforts, they stepped up the tempo after the 15th minute-mark.

And they took a deserved lead in the 18th minute, as some good build up play saw the ball end up at with Letsholonyane, who fired home a lovely low driven effort into the bottom corner.

Chiefs' goalkeeper, Brilliant Khuzwayo, who is deputising for the injured Itumeleng Khune, was a spectator for large parts of the opening 45 minutes and was not forced into making any big saves.

It was one way traffic in the first half, with Letsholonyane and Siphiwe Tshabalala pulling strings and linking up well in the first half, while Kingston Nkhatha and Bernard Parker have been quiet for large parts.

Steve Barker will hoping to see his side do a lot better in the second half, with Geofrey Massa cutting a frustrating upfront.

AmaTuks leveled matters minutes after the restart, thanks to a penalty from Geofrey Massa, after Khuzwayo had brought down Nyondo down in the box.

Khuzwayo was called into action in the 55th minute, as he pulled off a fine save to deny Ntombayithrthi's powerful effort.

Letsholonyane got his and Chiefs' second in the 70th minute, with a clinical finish from six-yards out, after some good work by Nkhatha.

Steve Barker's side pushed for the equaliser in the closing stages, but the Chiefs defence held their own, as Baxter's men maintain their winning start.

Here's how they lined up:

Kaizer Chiefs: Khuzwayo, Gaxa, Mashamaite, Gould, Masilela, Katsande, Letsholonyane, Tshabalala, Nkosi, Parker, Nkhatha

University of Pretoria: Arubi, Kekana, Shoyisa, Robertson, Nzimande, Jaure, Ketjijere, Matso, Ntombayithethi, Massam Nyondo
