Mamelodi Sundowns moved to the top of the Absa Premiership table, after recording a 2-0 win over Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
The visitors looked lively in the opening stages and carved out a chance after five minutes, but Percy Tau dragged his effort wide of the upright.
Arrows should have broken the deadlock two minutes later, as Mahachi dispossessed Ricardo Nascimento, but the Zimbabwean failed to covert home with only Denis Onyango to beat.
There was a good tempo to the encounter with both sides intent going for goal, although chances were hard to come by in the opening 25 minutes.
However, Sundowns went close on 30 minutes through Themba Zwane, who saw his effort cleared off the line by Mathiane.
Pitso Mosimane's charges took control of the encounter in the final 15 minutes as the likes of Themba Zwane, Percy Tau and Khama Billiat started seeing more of the ball.
Arrows nearly broke the deadlock just before the halftime break when Nduduzo Sibiya picked out Andile Fikizolo, who headed just wide of the upright.
Arrows should have gone ahead in the 50th minute when Wayde Jooste play Lerato Lamola through on goal, but the striker could only fire into the side-netting.
However, Sundowns eventually broke the deadlock in the 57th minute as Billiat laid the ball off for Hlompho Kekana, who rifled the ball into the bottom corner from 20-yards out.
Clinton Larsen responded by introducing Sibusiso Sibeko for Fikizolo in the 65th minute, as they pushed for an equaliser.
Although Sundowns doubled their lead in the 70th minute as Motjeka Madisha caught the Arrows defence napping and headed home Teko Modise's corner at the near post.
Mosimane opted for a defensive change for the final 15 minutes Fares Hachi replaced Thapelo Morena on the left flank.
Nonetheless, Sundowns managed to see out the closing stages with relative ease to see out the win against Arrows.
