Ruthless Sundowns Claim Absa Premiership Title

Absa Premiership

Result: AmaTuks 0-3 Sundowns

Date: 4 May 2016

Venue: Tuks Stadium

Mamelodi Sundowns did everything right on Wednesday night as they thrashed AmaTuks 3-0 to secure the Absa Premiership title.

The Brazilians surged ahead only three minutes into the game as Anthony Laffor opened the scoring. Mashaba did the hard work on the left flank before squaring for the Liberian to bundle it home.

Pitso Mosimane's men bossed the midfield after taking the lead and doubled it in the 20th minute. On this occasion Khama Billiat instigated the attack as he left his marker for dead before crossing for Laffor to tap home for his brace.

Sundowns looked comfortable with their two-goal lead and were never really threatened by the hosts who were reduced to attempting long-range shots at goal which more often than not went over the bar.

The visitors continued their dominance after the break and came close to scoring a third when Mabunda smashed a shot just wide of the post from long range.

Keagan Dolly then threatend to score from just inside the box but directed his shot inches wide of the near post with the goalkeeper beaten.

Sundowns secured the victory and their Absa Premiership silverware in the 59th minute as Laffor completed his hat-trick. Billiat provided the assist again as he slid a pin-point pass through to the striker who slotted it.

It was all Downs as the game wore on. Hlompho Kekana stinged the AmaTuks goalkeeper's hands with a venomous strike from 30 yards out, but the ball was well kept out.

AmaTuks were never really in the game and Sundowns eased to a comfortable win in the end as they grabbed all the spoils, including the coveted Absa Premiership title.
